Cadence McShane Construction, recognized as one of the leading construction firms in the educational, institutional, industrial, office, healthcare, multi-family, hospitality, and retail markets, is seeking to add a Safety Manager to its team. The individual will assist in the planning, implementation, and coordination of safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions and to ensure compliance with all internal and external requirements and regulations. This field position, based out of the headquarters office in Austin, TX, offers an excellent opportunity to join an established, reputable organization in a role that has growth potential.
Responsibilities
- Provide Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) leadership and operational support to each project team.
- Serve as a leader in driving EHS culture at job sites. Promote workplace safety among supervisors and workers. Conduct and manage health and safety training.
- Implement EHS procedures, programs, and systems at site level to ensure that all personnel and contractors comply with relevant safety policies and federal and state regulations.
- Conduct and manage safety inspections to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and specific company regulations. Assess and report unusual or new safety hazards or violations and initiate corrective action.
- Work closely with local environmental & OSHA agencies.
- Maintain computerized EHS reporting processes.
- Provide mentorship and training to Safety Coordinators.
- Facilitate the conduct of incident investigations and assist with the development of corrective actions.
- Serve as a key member of the Safety Committee to develop best practice reports to be issued to the company. Coordinate with all levels of the company to determine EHS solutions for business issues on a day-to-day basis.
- Understand federal, state, and local regulation changes that impact projects that are currently underway and make corresponding recommendations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field, or equivalent combination of education and field experience.
- Five+ years’ experience in construction safety.
- OSHA 30-hour training.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work productively with clients, owners, project professionals, and field and office staff.
- Leadership skills to direct field staff and ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies.
- Ability to proactively identify problems and identify solutions.
- Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and email software.
